1. I once worked as a seismicgrapher for the Shell Oil Company. I was talked into it by a friend who was doing the same thing. I only lasted one day. For one thing, I met up with a crew well before sunrise, the other guys being a slight step above criminal, and rode two hours into the swamps of Montmerency County (NE, lower peninsula MI) where we proceeded to trapse through bog and woods until dark that evening. My job was initially to pack into drilled holes charges of explosive with a wood stick then after some large guy with a remote detonator blew up the charge--often raising large clumps of ground to treetops--I would have to go after them and pick up the wires that were not incinerated. It is as close to a hellish job as I ever want to come close to again.
2. I realized more so this weekend my Mom can be embarassing when she doesn't shut up sometimes.
3. The second day I had moved to Detroit to attend college I walked over to Trumbull Avenue which borders the WSU campus and walked down to Tiger Stadium when it was still open to see my first major league ballgame. The Tigers played the Red Sox and a guy named Fielder hit one out of the stadium onto Chrysler Freeway (I-75). Still, it took 10 innings for the Tigers to win; I still have the ticket stub. I have wideangle pictures from inside and outside that I may scan and post here sometime.
4. I thought about N. the other day, the first woman I truly was in love with. This was tempered with regret for being so immature then as to screw everything up. I don't know why I brought that up, it's something I normally don't like to talk about.
5. I used to have a beard when I was in college. It was fairly big and often unkempt; scary looking too, yeesh. I'm glad it's gone, it always made me have a nervous tic about it, always fidgeting with it with one hand, esp the chin. If you seen anyone with a beard who does this, dear readers, that's really what it is.
6. I like a clean household with not too many things taking up space just because it's possible.
