[188] Politically Motivated
Jul. 20th, 2006 09:40 amElectronic letter sent to Honorable Ander Crenshaw, House Congressman for the 4th district of Florida:

Mr. Crenshaw,
I am concerned that our current leadership is turning a blind eye to research that could be the vanguard of medical progress and innovation in the coming years, stem cell research. I believe our President's rejection of the bill allowing federal funds to be diverted to this worthy cause to be problematic if not disturbing to me. His public semantics in surrounding himself with children in announcing what I feel is a misguided decision notwithstanding, one could beg the question of where his true morality lies when one considers his stance on not spending money to try to save lives through prevention or curing of diseases. Mr. Crenshaw, are we stuck in a rut of pertpetual rhetorical stasis in our leadership, such that we are in essence existing "day-to-day" with no clear vision to our country's future? From what I've seen and heard from our President and leadership, we seem to be in a reactive versus proactive time. It also makes one wonder where our real current priorities and expenditures are: in an expensive war we have to borrow money from other countries to fund for a constituency who either do not want what we are giving them (democracy) or are incapable of knowing the difference, or funding for programs to begin creating our future domestically, diverting attention back to our homestead, our concerns, our needs? Mr. Crenshaw, it makes me duly concerned this seeming gap between political and constituent issues and I am hoping you have something to say about it, to your constituency and your colleagues in Washington. In lieu of shouting "we've had enough," I hope you and your colleagues are attentive to our concerns. If this is not the case, then one could argue the real vanguard begins in November.
